Dr. Ingrid Prkačin earned her Doctor of Medicine degree in 1988 from the University of Zagreb School of Medicine. During her student days, she actively participated as a representative of one of the best students and worked as a demonstrator in anatomy and pathology.
In 1988, she completed her internship, passed the professional exam, and became a scientific associate on the Urology Clinic project at Merkur Hospital until 1992. She specialized in internal medicine in 1996 and subspecialized in nephrology in 2002. She obtained the title of consultant in 2007 and completed her specialization in emergency medicine in 2011. Until 2012, she worked at the Nephrology Department of KB Merkur, gaining rich experience in working with nephrological patients. Since 2012, she has been the Head of the Polyclinic, Clinic for Internal Medicine at KB Merkur, and has participated in several studies related to hypertension and chronic kidney disease.
She obtained a Master’s degree in 1994 with the thesis “Rationalization of Diagnostic Procedures in Patients with Kidney Tumors.” She defended her doctoral thesis in 2000 at the University of Zagreb School of Medicine. Since 2004, she has been a scientific collaborator and senior assistant in internal medicine, becoming an associate professor in 2009, a senior scientific collaborator in 2013, a full professor in 2019, and a regular professor of internal medicine at the University of Zagreb School of Medicine in 2023.
Dr. Prkačin is a lecturer in several postgraduate studies and continuous education courses of the first category. She serves as a reviewer for the University of Zagreb and numerous journals. She has co-authored several chapters in textbooks and has been an invited speaker at several international congresses.
Her scientific and professional work primarily focuses on nephrology with immunology, hypertension, and emergency medicine, with 1263 citations, an H index of 21, an I10 index of 25, and over 150 published papers. She has received several awards for the best scientific work.
